Hello HN: you should really read part 1, part 2 and part 3 about this change.
This afternoon, I finished the relicensing of most of the code of VLC to LGPL, like promised:
VLC modules LGPL commit.
You should read my posts on this subject.
Thanks to all VLC contributors, especially the important ones!
Last year, I also did the VLC core LGPL commit.
Thank you for taking the time to do that!
You mentioned in a previous post the existing difference between french laws and US laws (I dare not say international laws) in right ownership (the so called copyright laws). Could you elaborate a bit on that topic, or provide a few links?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Author%27s_rights is a good introduction to such differences.
This is some awesome Work.
So would it now be possible to get VLC back on the iPad?
Fantastic work j-b!
@krangsquared: so far, I don't know
Hallelujah I can actually reference this source when trying to add more dshow crossbar support to FFmpeg, thank you!
Congrats man. I saw your announce on facebook and now on HN :D
I heard another project relicensed the easy way.
Impressive work! That takes a lot of dedication. Congratulations!
Great Work, I am looking forward to the possible reappearance on the app store. Keep up the great work and just know that us plebs appreciate the time you and the rest of the team commit.
