Hello,
One branch of VLC media player, 0.9.0-libass, can render much better all the ASS/SSA subtitles in MKV.

If you want a special build, just ask. :D

Would it be possible for you to do an x86 build for OS X (10.4)?
I was wondering if it was posible if i could have a build that can update itself i sadly have limited bandwith so it is very sad when i have to uninstall and reinstall the player.......so someone please help me:(
Great. Step in right direction.
Unfortunately, VLC still hides subtitles on pause what makes it pretty useless for watching anime. And "Pause" still has a very long latency: ~1 second between when I press "Pause" and movie actually pauses. But pausing make no sense anyway - now much improved subtitles would be hidden anyway.
I'd say now VLC is about 40% ready to be usable for anime what is huge progress (compared to flat 0% before). Still it is not ready to be a replacement for MPC/Haali/DirectVobSub. I guess I'm still stuck on Windows... ;_;
The hiding on pause is a small bug that I just fixed and will be fixed in 0.9.3
Hi, I would like the latest build of VLC with SSA subtitle rendering please!
Hello
Can you tell me how can I get this effect in VLC? I've got 0.9.4 v. and still no ass subs =/ You know, I don't want to install any nedless codecs - I've got only VLC. So what should I do?
