i already had Mac OS X 10.6 and Win XP (Boot Camp) installed on my laptop, so i started from the Resize stage

Resize

* Go to Applications/Utils and launch Disk Tool

* Split and resize the main partition in order to have a new partition that you name Linux and format in HFS. (16GB here)

* Check everything.

before installing Ubuntu, i wounded to check the rebooting to the Mac and Win-XP OP, but unfortunately i couldn't boot the WIn XP anymore.

from the Mac i can see the BOOTCAMP partition and disk and all the files on it.

Do i missed a stage after the resizing that i need to do so the Win-XP can be rebooted ?

The big one is about LANGUAGE_CODE: that is the default locale used to display messages in. "utf-8" is not a locale. You will set LANGUAGE_CODE to something like "en" or "de", etc. Since Django doesn’t ship with "en-au" or "en-us" variants, leaving LANGUAGE_CODE alone will give you default English messages (as if it were set to "en"), which isn’t a terrible default.

Took some manual changes but c’mon…is it really that hard not to make changes to the security/cocoa base without breaking things?

so i got ubuntu and win 7 on my macbook.and now the sound dont work in win 7.but thay do in lunix .got a older white macbook with 10.4

Yep. Apple’s changes caused my VPN software to stop working too. I found some ways http://www.rapidskunk.com to get about this but still having some problems.

I have been trying got weeks to be able to triple boot my macbook 5,2 with snow leopard win 7, and ubuntu 9.1. I have osx and win7 working, and after alot of work, I was able to finally install ubuntu, but now after I select it thru refit, it says grub loading, then I have an option to select what I want to run, I choose linux. After this, I get a curser and then a black screen. Nothing happens.
I would appreciate any help or advise. Thank you.

I’ve heard there are some wildlife groups trying to get Apple to do more stuff with the actual S.L.’s lol. I don’t know- people are saying it’s good PR for Apple- they should jump on that.

These instructions works brilliantly!! Simple yet functional.
Very good the part about installing grub to the linux partition instead of the mbr. That has been a headache for me. Now Im triple-bootin and doin movie editing in cinelerra in ubuntu 9.1, gaming in MSXPpro and using snow leopard for the rest.

I’ll have to stick with Perian for the time being and *gag* QT 10.

@sadf: breaking major applications by changing runtime for security reasons, 2 weeks before release, is not a good QA. Deal with it.

Anyway, this will be fixed for 1.0.2.

Sorry but don’t blame your unstandard patchwork codes failure on apple. Plenty of osx apps have no issues.

@Max: yeah, like when you have minor updates of Xcode that breaks linker, or compiling of ASM… Apple doesn’t seem to really care about old versions, that seems to be quite recurrent.

Actually this part of VLC code is also crashing on Leopard randomly - less often. VLC is doing a buggy stuff here.

You can see it the other way around, we are now forced to fix this bug.

I have installed windows on it now want to add linux. I think you have a typo in the linux part, it is disk utility instead of disk tool right? could you map out a bit detail how to do this step? i dont want to screw up anything as i have a lot of stuff installed in windows already.

So , 7 hours later I now have a working mac with 3 OS on it. This tutorial as well as the on provided by Alien ( much simpler to follow ) work.

Also don't forget to sync like twodogs mentioned.

The only thing that I can see is that the option to boot into Refit or another OS shows the Windows 7 option along side of the Refit. Is this becuase windows 7 is gpt/efi compatable ?

i cant split and resize my partions
"Error resizing format" occured.

i used. terminal with follow:
sudo diskutil resizeVolume disks01 400G "JFHS+" "Linux" 33G

any idea ?
