I realy don't think a BIG project like VideoLan needs Google's Ad-Words. Why don't you try inviting advatisers yourself? Wikipedia rejected many juicy offers, I hope you don't do the same.

It looks as if Netlink Investements uses a collection of software for their phishing sites: For the graphic viewer "XnView" we have the same problem, see http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtop... for more details.

Netlink Investments resides in Panama, so I'm afraid there is little to do about it. The team of the computer journal c't somtimes tracks such things, perhaps it might be a good idea to point them to those phishing sites.

This is sick! Is there anything that we users (read silent supporters) can do about it?
Could we perhaps add a "I support VLC" with a link to the real site www.videolan.org? That would make thhe Google page ranking higher?

This is clearly a very blatant violation of the VideoLan project's copyright.

I suggest that the VideoLan project members discuss this issue and take action against this clear violation of there rights.

I'm from Israel and I'm really ashamed that Israelis are behind this (although it comes as no surprise :-< ). If you want any kind of help with this, I would be very glad to offer. You can contact me at the e-mail above (BTW - I can get you in touch with a very good Israeli IP lawyer who specialises in GPL cases).

If they are ripping of the VLC source code and all other things and selling it thats illegal. Send the, a letter saying they must stop or legal action will be taken
